The last thing you want to do when being self-isolated is to be bored. There are many ways that you can keep yourself entertained at home, and we will go through some of them in this article. If being isolated is not your idea of fun, then there are things that you can do while being cooped up inside all day long!

Find A New Hobby

A lot of people who are in self-isolation take up a new hobby while there and even keep doing it when they’re done. You can easily find guides to crafting from home which should keep you occupied for a while. If you’re not the crafty type, there are plenty of other things to do like puzzles, reading, and learning new things. The great thing about finding a new hobby is that it can take up as much or as little time as you want it to. You can easily find ones that don’t require leaving your house which is perfect for this situation!

Whatever you choose to do, make sure that it’s something you’re interested in and won’t get bored with quickly. Having something to focus on will help keep your mind off of things and hopefully make the time go by a bit faster. Staying busy is key during these times so finding a new hobby is definitely a good idea!

Consider Digital Entertainment

Technology has reshaped the way you live your life. Entertainment is no exception. There are now more ways than ever to be entertained without leaving the comfort of your home. Here are a few ideas to get you started:

  • Watch movies and TV shows: Streaming services like Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime Video have tons of movies and TV shows to choose from. You can watch them on your phone, tablet, computer, or smart TV.
  • Listen to music: Spotify, Apple Music, and other streaming music services have tons of songs to choose from. You can listen on your phone, tablet, computer, or smart speaker.
  • Play video games: Console gaming systems like PlayStation and Xbox have a ton of games available for download or purchase. PC gamers can download games from Steam, GOG.com, and other online game stores.
  • Watch documentaries: Websites like YouTube and Vimeo often have online documentaries available to watch.

Learn Something New

This is a perfect opportunity for you to learn something new. Maybe there’s a skill you’ve always wanted to learn or maybe you want to delve into a new topic. The options are endless and learning can be a fun and rewarding experience.

There are plenty of ways to learn something new without leaving your home. There are online courses, MOOCs (massive open online courses), podcasts, and more. You can also find free tutorials on YouTube or other video platforms. If you’re looking for something specific, there’s likely a course or tutorial available online.

Read Books

It’s always great to read books when you are feeling down. It is a fantastic way to pass the time and learn new things.

If reading isn’t your thing, consider listening to audiobooks as well! There are services such as Audible which offer monthly subscription packages for those who want access to lots of different titles at an affordable price. You can listen while taking walks or doing chores around the house so it’s super convenient too!

There are tons of books you can choose from too! You can choose from reading about self-help, biographies, fiction, and more. There’s something for everyone!

Exercise

Staying healthy and in good shape while being on your own is a great way to keep yourself from feeling lonely and isolated. As you start exercising at home, be sure that your routine is one that you can stick to.

When exercising, it is important to focus on your breathing and to make sure that you are not pushing yourself too hard. Start by taking a brisk walk around your neighborhood or try some simple stretching exercises. As you progress, you can add in more strenuous activities such as running or weightlifting. Just make sure that you are not exercising too strenuously.

Make Video Calls With Friends

Hanging out with friends is a great way to keep yourself busy and entertained, especially when you’re stuck at home. One easy way to do this is by making video calls. You can use any number of apps or services to make these calls, so there’s sure to be one that fits your needs.

If you have an iPhone, FaceTime is a great option. It’s built into the phone and it’s very easy to use. All you need is someone with an iPhone and they can call you right from their contacts list. If you don’t have an iPhone, Skype is a good alternative.
