There are many gardening tips out there, but not many for people with poor gardening skills. If you are one of the few who can’t keep plants alive, it’s time to take matters in own hand. There is light at the end of the tunnel. Almost everyone is able to improve their gardening skills. It will take a little bit of your time and effort. But trust us, it will be worth it. Are you ready to improve your own gardening skills? Here are some gardening tips that will actually help.
Plant different bulbs and create your own flower garden
There are many bulbs who won’t need much of your time and are relatively easy to grow and to take care for. Great examples are tulip bulbs and Crocus Sativus Bulbs, or saffron bulbs. Let’s talk about saffron for a bit, because it’s one of the easiest plants to keep.
Saffron bulbs are relatively easy to grow. It’s important to plant them in the right environment, to give them a great start. First you’ll need to find a location where the soil drains well. Crocus Sativus Bulbs are not very pleased if they are soaked in water. They won’t grow as well when they’re soaked. Make sure there’s good draining available to increase growth.
Now it’s time to dig holes and plant the crocuses. Make sure you leave enough space between the bulbs, because they will grow big time. After planting them it’s important to water the soil well. Make sure you don’t leave a puddle. Roots will be formed in the fall and buds and flowers are only produced in the late spring or early summer.
When planted, saffron bulbs will be relatively easy to keep. They won’t need a lot of attention. A little bit of love and sometimes a little spray of water is enough. In the fall and winter they won’t take much time at all. When they start blooming, you can trim the stamens and use it in for cooking. It doesn’t matter how often you trim the stamens. This won’t hurt the plant. During active growth periods it’s recommended to water your plants once a week.
After blooming has finished for the season you have to leave the foliage in place. Whatever you do: don’t cut them off. This will hurt the plant and can lead to weakened bulbs. By leaving the foliage in place, it can use photosynthesis and strengthen the bulbs. So you can enjoy your beautiful saffron next year.
When you first begin gardening it’s important to keep it as small as possible. You don’t want to increase your time caring for your plants, because you are in a hurry. What small looks like is based on your own experience. Don’t make your garden too small. Otherwise you’ll overtend your garden, because there’s not much to do.
Plant things you really enjoy
Why do you enjoy gardening? Because it’s necessary to keep your garden in right shape or because you really love the vibrant colours and different herbs that are planted? Garden because you want it and you love it. Not because of what others think of need. When you enjoy your time in the garden, this will have a direct effect on the result. Gardening must be fun!
